Spent Valentine’s Day at the Capitol to testify in favor of House Bill
I spent Valentine’s Day at the Capitol to testify in favor of House Bill 800 sponsored by St Charles Representative Phil Christofanelli. Here is my testimony:
Linda Ragsdale – O’Fallon, MO
Thank you Rep Christofanelli for bringing forth this legislation. While it’s a short and simple bill it is a very important bill. A recent report from the Heritage Foundation ranked Missouri dead last in terms of academic transparency. That is not a statistic that as a Missourian I am proud of. Some alarming things came out of the pandemic. It highlighted the need for more options and transparency in education. Parents need as much readily accessible information as possible in order to determine what school or school district best fits a family’s needs. And it’s not just important for parents – tax payers, voters, all constituents deserve the transparency of what is happening in our schools. The quality of our schools plays a role in our property values. Having a comprehensive list of school board members from all districts will allow families, as well as taxpayers, to hold school board members accountable.
Thank you.
